Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 redefined the progression system in multiplayer gaming by introducing a highly rewarding Prestige mechanic. Players who reach the maximum level can reset their rank to unlock unique rewards, permanent items, and extra class slots. Understanding how many Prestiges exist and what each milestone offers helps players strategically plan their leveling journey.
Total Number of Prestiges in Black Ops 2
In Black Ops 2, players can advance through a total of 10 standard Prestige levels. Each Prestige requires players to progress from level 1 to level 55 by earning experience points through multiplayer matches and challenges. Once a player completes level 55 in the tenth Prestige, they earn the final rank known as Prestige Master.
What You Unlock with Each Prestige Level
Every time you enter a new Prestige level, you receive one Permanent Unlock Token that permanently unlocks any weapon, perk, or scorestreak. During the first five Prestiges, players can also unlock an additional Create-a-Class slot for each level gained, up to a maximum of ten slots. Additionally, each Prestige level rewards you with a unique emblem to display on your player profile.
Prestige Awards and Tokens Explained
When entering a new Prestige, players can select one of three special Prestige Awards to customize their progress. Options include adding an Extra Custom Class slot, refunding all spent regular unlock tokens, or choosing a Fresh Start to reset all stats. Managing these tokens efficiently ensures you keep your essential loadouts active across every reset.
Reaching the Ultimate Prestige Master Rank
Hitting Prestige Master is the ultimate milestone in Black Ops 2 multiplayer progression. Upon reaching this status, all weapons, equipment, perks, and scorestreaks are automatically and permanently unlocked for your account. This eliminates the need for further resets, allowing players to focus fully on competitive play and weapon mastery.
